Clearing a criminal warrant can be as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack. Each courthouse has different procedures on recalling warrants. Some courthouses will allow a defendant to walk in at any time to recall a warrant while other courthouses require a defendant to arrive in clerk’s office before 9:00 a.m. to have their case heard that same day.
Judges differ on how they view warrants as well. I have appeared in front of judges who simply refuse to recall a bench warrant despite it having been issued several hours after the case is called. I have also appeared before judges that will allow a warrant that is weeks old to be recalled with no consequences if there is a reasonable explanation.
