Guest Post Columnist: Christopher J McCann an Orange County criminal defense DUI lawyer

If you are charged with DUI in California, it is important that you know how to find California DUI information soon after your arrest. But before I share with you the California DUI info links. I’d like to share with you some basic info for what you need to know about a California DUI. Since you should consider seeking counsel from a qualified DUI attorney in California within 10 days or risk losing your driving privilege automatically and possibly, face maximum penalties from the court.

A licensed DUI attorney in California will begin the defense process in order to have your charges reduced or dismissed. If your driver’s license is confiscated, you are issued a temporary one from the DMV that expires after 30 days. Within this period, your DUI attorney will request an administrative hearing with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Note that this hearing is only an administrative proceeding to establish the circumstances surrounding your DUI arrest, not whether you are guilty of any law violations. If you win the hearing, you are allowed to continue driving until the DMV or the court orders any further action.

Depending on the nature of your case, the DUI attorney in California will advise you about the most suitable approach for your defense. This can be a plea bargain negotiation, a case dismissal hearing or a court trial.
